Help the Playa del Carmen Pet Shelter for free!
Playa del Carmen, Mexico is one of my favorite places in the entire world. It is where my beach pictures were taken earlier this year. Mexico has a huge stray dog and cat problem, and a few wonderful people are trying to do something about it in Playa del Carmen. The Peanut Pet Shelter has recently opened and is working very hard to care for and re-home these animals, most of whom have been very sick and abused. I know we all can't adopt a street dog from Mexico, but we can all click on the link below and nominate the Peanut Pet Shelter to receive some of the $2.5 million in funds that American Express is providing for their Members Project. Here are the details from my friend Susie, who nominated the shelter.

Members Project is an exciting initiative that brings people together to make a difference in the world. It's simple. People go online to share ideas for projects — and ultimately vote on which projects will share $2.5 million in funding from American Express.
In 2007, Members Project provided clean drinking water to children all across Africa. What will Members Project do this year? The decision is yours. Please nominate my project.

The only downside to this is that you have to register as a guest if you're not already an AmEx member. I know people don't like putting their email addresses out there randomly, but I'm pretty sure AmEx won't be spamming you. I guess it's how they know that nominations are legitimate.
But... if we get gazillions of nominations, the shelter could be the recipient of one of these awards. It may not be as big as getting clean drinking water to the children of Africa, but it's still pretty important and this will give us the opportunity to make it even MORE visible to more people all over the world.
